The predecessors of Wikipedia ...

Dear editors.

I am 12akd (Domonkos Kocsis), one of the Hungarian editors of Wikipedia. I was born in 1993 and studied history between 2012 and 2020 at the Károli Gáspár Reformed University in Budapest.

I consider Wikipedia to be one of the greatest endeavors of mankind, dedicated to gathering all the cultural treasures that exist, and a worthy successor to the great old encyclopedias. Mankind has long experimented with the synthesis of all the sciences and arts from individual polyhistors (Aristotle, Varro, Pliny, Cassiodorus, Izidor of Seville, Beda Venerabilis, Hrabanus Maurus, Photius, Vincentius Bellovacensis, Albertus Magnus, etc.) and then the XVII-XX. through century lexicon series. Now, the XXI. At the beginning of the 20th century, a new era opened up with the development of computer technology: electronic devices provided an opportunity to continue the great work. It’s a great pleasure that it’s open to everyone on Wikipedia, so I can take part in it too.

I have been familiar with this website since about 2006 and have been a registered editor since the summer of 2008. I edit mainly on the Hungarian wikipedia, but occasionally I also get used to the English language, mainly Hungarian articles. From time to time, he makes minor corrections to other articles on the humanities (history, history of philosophy, literary history, art history, etc.), such as: template corrections, data refinements. Primarily, I can help with the above, in matters related to data. Nevertheless, I still have problems with the exact wording in English. That is why I apologize for the last thing.

I wish everyone a good edit!
