I'm unable to deorphan this article and upon closer inspection, the article doesn't seem to pass any of the points of WP:GNG. The sources are mainly self-published sources (WP:RSSELF), and the secondary sources are blog posts (possibly falling under WP:USERG), with the only news coverage being hyperlocal. Sources 1 and 2 are blog posts. Sources 3, 5, 7, and 8 are self-published blog posts (with source 3 being a Tweet). Source 4 is from KC Free Press, which seems to be a hyperlocal news organization (but I would say it's closer to a blog). Source 6 links to the topic's GitHub page. Sources 9 and 10 link to the home page to websites, so are not even sources for anything in the article. My research on this topic results in user-generated blog posts, hyper-local news coverage or original sources (such as their website or their GitHub). This was a declined PROD. The third source (forte) is just a list of post offices, and doesn't provide proof of population center since many post offices were in rural areas, and had names that weren't always the same as the place. GNIS (source 1) is unreliable for classification of towns. The second source provides 3 refs for this "town" [1] [2] [3]. Those sources don't mention a town of Cora, but a post office called Cora. Further research shows that the Cora post office serviced the Upper Big Bottom area of Lewis county [4](see pg 253). A newspaper article from 2002 further stated that it was a post office (look down toward the bottom of the first column) [5] James.folsom (talk) 00:51, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep but with rewrite/reclassify see the Talk:Cora, Washington page for sourcing on Cora that I was able to find (I'd paste it here but it's fairly long); to me this was a community though not large and seems to have existed in strength from the 1890s to maybe into the Great Depression. Founders were family that began Claquato, Washington, so there's some connection there. Obvious that no formal community exists now so my proposal is to rewrite/reclassify the page (rather than deletion) claiming it to be an extinct community/ghost town.Shortiefourten (talk) 19:08, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Weak keep There's quite a lot of coverage here, in this brief profile, this, this, this and this. Whether when combined it's enough to reach WP:GNG I'm not sure, but with what we have and what is likely available offline I think it's worth a weak keep, although I'd suggest a redirect to Kenya international players if a list did exist. Rugbyfan22 (talk) 09:16, 5 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete : Nice try, but lacks reliable references. Two of the references on the page are dead, and those who are live barely qualify as substantial. Of the sources provided by User:Rugbyfan22, the last one could contribute towards notability, but we’d need a few more, and in different sources for this one to pass. Sichuanese Pinyin[edit]

Sichuanese Pinyin (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views) – (View AfD | edits since nomination)
(Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL)

This is supposedly a romanisation system based on Pinyin that is used for Sichuanese Mandarin, which is the form of Mandarin Chinese spoken in Sichuan. However, I see no evidence that "Sichuanese Pinyin" actually exists as a concept outside of Wikipedia (and a few sites which have cloned the article or used it as a source over the years).

Three Sichuanese dictionaries are referenced on the article, none of which refer to the system as "Sichuanese Pinyin" (in English or Chinese), and they aren't even consistent between themselves over the systems they use (e.g. one uses ⟨ng⟩ to transcribe /ŋ/, while another uses ⟨ŋ⟩).

For added context: it's common for modified versions of (standard) Pinyin to be used to transcribe Chinese (dia)lects which don't have their own romanisation systems, so the fact that that's happened with these dictionaries is unsurprising. However, for "Sichuanese Pinyin" to exist as a separate concept, you would expect (at the very least) to find multiple sources using the same system, all referring to it by that name (e.g. Cantonese Jyutping, Hokkien Pe̍h-ōe-jī, or even lesser-known systems like Hainanese Bǽh-oe-tu). That isn't the case here, so it cannot be anything other than original research. Theknightwho (talk) 18:22, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I also found r and th as variants for [z] 如. No response to my {cn} tags in January, though in itself that doesn't mean much. — kwami (talk) 18:33, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps instead of deletion we could rework it and move it to Romanization of Sichuanese, which would also entail folding in the Sichuanese version of Latinxua Sin Wenz. I think it's fine to mention the systems used by different dictionaries; I just don't think we should be implying it's a unified system with the name "Sichuanese Pinyin", or that it's in actual use more generally. The only reliable source for this fishing ship / unarmed military transport ship is a massive 10-book encyclopedia of all German warships no matter how small or insignificant. The other source, netmarine.net, is more of a large hobby site / semi wiki than anything else ("Si vous souhaitez compléter ces pages par des récits, illustrations ou autres documents, écrivez nous."). • No, we haven't, and is in any case not a reason to keep things. "We keep because we always keep" is ignoring things like Wp:CCC and the stricter standards we have for establishing notability instead of assuming some inherent notability across many topics. Fram (talk) 09:07, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • You tried the exact same argument at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USS LSM-316, Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/USS LSM-422 and the like, which ended in redirection, with the closing admin noting the particular weakness of your argument. Fram (talk) 09:18, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • So you discount my argument because you disagree with precedent but then cite a closer's remarks (which did not refer to my argument specifically, incidentally) as some sort of precedent? You've got to laugh! But, other than those numbered vessels, which are all pretty much the same, and some static accommodation barges, would you like to cite the AfDs where commissioned military vessels were deleted. Just so we know. -- Necrothesp (talk) 10:10, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
We have if they got more than routine coverage. A fishing vessel pressed into navy service isn't the HMS Ark Royal or USS Missouri, so it won't have that level of coverage. Oaktree b (talk) 15:58, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment: Reading the article for 2 seconds shows that it was requisitioned for service as a military ship during World War II, so stating fishing ship / unarmed transport ship, is technically correct but is a misleading strawman. I'm not arguing for or against deletion because I don't know if there is a separate method for assessing the notability of ships, but that statement just irked me. Curbon7 (talk) 09:12, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • I meant "unarmed military transport ship", otherwise my addition of "unarmed" would make little sense, but I agree that not including "military" was involuntarily misleading. I've added it now, I hope that's better? Fram (talk) 09:18, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      Much appreciated Curbon7 (talk) 09:21, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep The vessel served with two navies and two commercial fishers. Although unarmed in French Navy service, she was definitely armed in Kriegsmarine service. If Netmarine is objected to, I can add from Janes All the World's Ships, which most definitely passes WP:RS. Mjroots (talk) 10:14, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    • Comment Lloyd's Register is also a reliable source. Mjroots (talk) 19:42, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
      • That Lloyd's mention is reliable, but it doesn't contribute to the topic's notability. See WP:SIGCOV. I'm familiar with Janes' usual entries, and while they're also reliable I'm not sure that will meet the SIGCOV bar either. Ed [talk] [OMT] 03:31, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Mjroots and longstanding practice. Kablammo (talk) 15:52, 12 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect to List of Vorpostenboote in World War II. I'm not concerned with the scope of Gröner's work, but I am interested in its depth of coverage. From the article's content, I'm guessing it does check that WP:SIGCOV box (in addition to all the other points at WP:GNG). Unfortunately, that's only one source, and Lloyd's table doesn't reach that bar. If there's a typical entry in Jane's Fighting Ships, I'm guessing that wouldn't either. As a result, I think this topic can be covered in the main Vorpostenboote list, or if needed that list could be split. (Per GNG footnote 4: "Lack of multiple sources suggests that the topic may be more suitable for inclusion in an article on a broader topic.") Ed [talk] [OMT] 03:31, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Delete Unless actual WP:SIGCOV can be presented from sources (and at this point, I will need the actual text from the references copy-pasted here to prove it since they're inaccessible), then there isn't notability being shown for this article subject. And it's already well known that sources like Lloyd's Register are not significant coverage and just list basic info for all military ships that have existed period. The Dictionary of French Warships seems no better. In fact, all the sources used in the article seem very underwhelming on actual significant coverage (and is Netmarine.net even a reliable source?).
The closer should disregard any Keep votes above claiming "we always keep them", as this isn't an actual notability argument. It's the same sort of nonsense that was done with sports biographies previously and we finally forced that group to follow WP:GNG requirements. We are long past time to force the same requirements on the walled garden that Ships wikiproject editors have been constructing. SilverserenC 18:03, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'm struggling to see how this YouTube web series meets the WP:N for NMUSIC or even GNG. While there may be coverage in RS like this, this, this, and this, but these all seem to ROTM coverage - most probably paid / PR-related articles without any by-lines, which isn't sufficient to meet WP:SIRS.

While this coverage could contribute to establishing GNG, it alone isn't enough. Anyone who wants to argue for keeping this page should provide at least three best examples of coverage from RS to help establish WP:N. —Saqib (talk I contribs) 11:48, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Not sure if this violates WP:DICT (wikipedia is not a dictionary). While I see why we have Alba and éire, (Scottish Gaelic and Irish for Scotland and Ireland respectively) because it refers to a country, do we really need a dictionary for a specific world in another language? There is no such a battle named "Battle of Ajmer" in any of the WP:RS nor any Historians named a battle as "Battle of Ajmer" between Mher tribe and Ghurids. The article body talks about a conflict between Mher tribe and Ghurids, whereas the infobox describes Rajputs as the belligerents. Neither from the source of R. C Majumdar, nor from Romila Thapar, I could even find a scattered line about this event. The actual event per cited is the prelude of Battle of Kasahrada (1197). The current content could be added into this parent article (edit: it is already present the background section). There is need for improvement on this page and some more detail that is missing or wrong about the battle, siege, and the belligerents. We are an inclusive encyclopedia, that's why we have plenty of articles on such topics Category:2003 births. This in-depth article in Arab News is written by Saima Shabbir. The book has been reviewd in Dawn ([13]) and The Nation ([14]) by their staff members (when a newspaper writes "staff report" it is enough to prove the reliability). Wieles, So, it looks like he's only authored this one book, which got some coverage in RS. Is just writing one book enough to pass WP:NAUTHOR? Seems like a pretty ROTM author. And it makes me wonder, if someone just writes a book and gets some press coverage on it, do they automatically qualify for a WP BLP? As for the coverage, DAWN coverage seems pretty ROTM to me. It's not sig/in-depth as required by GNG. And The Nation coverage is based on his interview, which also isn't sig/in-depth or even independent of the subject. Sure, they can be used for WP:V, but for establishing GNG, I'd say no. They also don't qualify as reviews of the book, as WP:NAUTHOR states work must have been the primary subject of multiple independent periodical articles or reviews. And just to be clear, I'm not suggesting he shouldn't get a BLP because he's a TEEN!Saqib (talk I contribs) 00:06, 14 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: EcoCute is trademark with millions of units used in Japan, some number of units also used in oversea, hopefully more number in area other than Japan. Installations, Japan and oversea case study list Article context and external link shows reality. I had created article EcoCute in July 2008‎, in January 2024, nominated for delete, then merged to, but eliminated section EcoCute in Air source heat pump thereafter. EcoCute (Japan) is based on number of units used/working in Japan, so that this is eligible to be an article in fact with (Japan). As Generic trademark, no one nominate trademark Coca-Cola merger into Coke nor Jeep into automobile, neither Wikipedia® registered trademark neither. EcoCute is registered and generic trademark. I shall repeat once again:
Once an article A deleted and marge to another article B, even A redirected to B, anyone can edit article B include word A in context of article B, but long term in future, it is possible/happen the word A may disappear from B due to number of editing by many editor/user. No one able to guarantee such sad thing if article A is worthful. This is my understanding. This comment is in My opinon on 12:46, 7 February 2024. If this nomination be resulted as merge back to Air source heat pump again, or other, merge or delete nomination will be happened again and again. As far as I know nobody can guarantee that a merged section would not be deleted. I agree with @MrOllie that the section was too lengthy and only covered one product. However as this seems to have been very ahead of its time I believe it should be covered briefly in the air source heat pump article along with some other companies and/or products. Chidgk1 (talk) 13:04, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Yes, I deleted the section because it was a WP:UNDUE problem and looked like an advertisement for one company's product in that context. MrOllie (talk) 13:08, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Pls See section of talk page of EcoCute (Japan), Manufactures of EcoCute in Japan. EcoCute is not one company’s products, all mfg./vender, equally competing in market with named EcoCute, product type of Air source heat pump, as article said, to identify, not confused with other type of Air source heat pump by both seller and customer. I would like all you here to review for my long opinions on other page/section.--Namazu-tron (talk) 15:13, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's a registered trademark. Whether they are manufactured directly by that company or under license from that company is a distinction without a difference. MrOllie (talk) 15:52, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Number of companies produce variety number of models, size, performance and sell/buy price and others. Minimum requirement is both Refrigerant is CO2 and making hot water, it is named as EcoCute in fair markets. Telling/ display/ indication of word EcoCute in sales promotion is no advantage, it just shows merely type of heat pump, not such as gas nor electric heating.--Namazu-tron (talk) 05:10, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If some other companies and/or variety of products put on market in future, and is comparable or superior, than or equal capability to EcoCute reduce CO2/ emission and Greenhouse gas, that will be a time to merge these as one type of heat pump in Air source heat pump sections.--Namazu-tron (talk) 07:34, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete and specifically Do not merge. Either it is notable enough for a standalone article or it isn't, and if it isn't it definitely should not be dumped into a general article - Wikipedia isn't a catalog, we should not be writing about individual product offerings in generic articles like that. - MrOllie (talk) 13:10, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Comment: Top wording changed/edited today. As (The EcoCute is an energy-efficient, type of Air source heat pump and only for water heating as the single hot water supply system, not use for air conditioning or alike.) Millions units sold EcoCute use Air source heat pump, air conditioner use Air source heat pump as well, Refrigerator use Heat pump. Car use Engine. Even trade mark Coca-Cola and Jeep, all these has an article on Wikipedia here.--Namazu-tron (talk) 05:15, 16 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete: and SALT both this and EcoCute for six months. It is clear that the title-gaming author has no intention of abiding by the result of a merge in this AfD any more than they did in the previous AfD. Any additional attempts to circumvent consensus by title-gaming should be handled with a topic ban. Owen× 21:35, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep + Comment: As of article version 05:15, 19 May 2024, JIS JIS C 9220:2018 in section “EcoCute machine basics”, it should be noted that no equivalent total system, EcoCute is 1: heat pump air sourced + 2: hot water storage tank + 3: supply with CO2 Refrigerant. Air source heat pump is describe step 1: only and functional usage is for air conditioner, bathing, underfloor heating and etc., and any conceivable use connecting to room air conditioning unit or to water unit or any unit for purpose. JIS C 9220 standards clearly defined/request associated hot water tank mandatory as single system. I am not sure standard for air source heat pump is, but sure that it may not defined/request associated hot water tank. My “keep” position is rationally with/based reasons, facts and differences.--Namazu-tron (talk) 09:05, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for quick advice. Noticed the rule.--Namazu-tron (talk) 09:27, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Many air source heat pump systems in Europe include hot water tanks. Certainly Ecocute should be mentioned in the Air source heat pump history section as it was so ahead of its time. It was a great pioneer but nowadays others have caught up. Chidgk1 (talk) 12:23, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
A brief mention would not be amiss (like, one sentence), but making more than 1/3 of the article about Ecocute is far too much. MrOllie (talk) 13:46, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • TNT/redirect and consider topic-banning Namazu-tron from this topic due to apparent undisclosed COI. DCsansei has found some references that do include significant coverage of the subject in major Japanese publications such as NHK [15] and Yomiuri Shimbun ([16]). However, this coverage is exclusively negative, and the state of the article as written by Namazu-tron does not even begin to incorporate this information. signed, Rosguill talk 15:56, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I, too, get the clear sense we're dealing with a COI/UPE here. The tendentious, unrelenting recreation/reversion pattern and the promotional tone suggest, at the very least, a strong POV. Rosguill, please ping me if you take this to AN/I or such. Owen× 16:16, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Relisted to generate a more thorough discussion and clearer consensus.
Relisting comment: Final relist. There appears to be a consensus not to keep, but there's no consensus yet for delete, merge, or redirect. A topic ban is not a valid AfD outcome; that discussion should be had at AN or ANI.

There is nothing online that suggests the organisation still exists. The Guidestar website (https://www.guidestar.org/profile/36-4416453#financials) has the following comment: "This organization has not appeared on the IRS Business Master File in a number of months. It may have merged with another organization or ceased operations. This organization's exempt status was automatically revoked by the IRS for failure to file a Form 990, 990-EZ, 990-N, or 990-PF for 3 consecutive years. I try again. Lois Lane is indeed an encyclopedic character but its counterpart from the DC Extended Universe seems to be irrelevant in a real world perspective. First thing first, this article does not meet the requirements of WP:NFILMCHAR: the character has appeared in three films, but not in a lead or titular capacity. I see no point in keeping this article along with its parent article Umayyad campaigns in India, when there are no sources explicitly covering this event as "Arab conquest of Kaikan", the source cited in the lead for it nowhere mentions this event as the title. Another problem with orginal researched articles is their defined timeline, despite having no source for the hoax timelines the authors of these articles love to furnish their own preferred timeline of one, two or even three centuries. The article topic also seems to lack notability and significant coverage as there are many uncertainty and unknown belligerents. Based Kashmiri (talk) 08:29, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep: Sources such as newspaper articles dating as far back as the early 1980s can easily be found and later added over a relatively short matter of time with the aid of Google News Archives as well as places like Awful Announcing for more "current" or up to date sources. There's also presumably, official press releases from CBS Sports itself. I would estimate, that sources can be filled up in roughly a day and a half. Also, who would fall under the criteria of being "the most notable announcers" among this particular list? Are we only referring to current announcers for CBS as of 2024, are we referring to announcers who only worked the March Madness tournament? BornonJune8 (talk) 10:46, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    WP:ROUTINE applies. SpacedFarmer (talk) 12:19, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep and improve: There are secondary sources discussing these announcers as a group particularly for March Madness, as seen with 28, 29, 30, [[31] and 32 being found relatively quickly. I wouldn't oppose possibly reducing this to just the March Madness crews but sourcing does appear to show that the WP:LISTN is met. Again, this isn't a broadcasters schedule so I'm not sure how this is a WP:NOTTVGUIDE and I'm unsure which part of NOTDATABASE the nom thinks this violates. The only source Jaques Tony cited for this title and its prolonged duration does not support the timeline mentioned in the lead and infobox (note that timeline in lead and infobox aren't aligned). The article lacks general notability, as there are no cited sources specifically mentioning the Siege of Chittorgarh (1544) or providing significant coverage of this conflict. Instead, it focuses more on unrelated events such as the other conquests of Sher Shah and the Battle of Harmoda (1557). I'm a day or so away from completing the Apollo 17 article, but I would stand up the "Lunar Panoramic Photography - Apollo 11" article as an example of the direction I intend to go in. Although that isn't complete either, at least it includes some of those added-value features, such as placing the panoramas in context through the use of maps, and providing commentary as to how the shots came about. (And after Apollo, there's all the panoramas from the automated missions that occurred before and after the manned missions.)
Naturally, having done the work, I think it's a worthy inclusion. If there is a more appropriate format for it to be presented in then I would be happy to transfer it, but, for now, I'd prefer to think of it as moving in the direction of being a 'Catalogue' rather than a 'Gallery'... • Keep: This almost looks like it satisfies LIST, with some critical discussion about items in the list, a significant lead and a closing paragraph. This could be useful for someone looking at the photos for context of the larger lunar mission. Oaktree b (talk) 00:44, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
My issue is that there isn't even a single secondary source covering the topic. If there were, I wouldn't have brought this to AfD at all. The article appears compliant with policies, except for notability. Trainsandotherthings (talk) 01:03, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment - It would be a tragedy to delete these, but as of now they don't seem to satisfy WP:NLIST. We would want secondary WP:SIGCOV discussing either the set of photographs or the photography techniques used. This certainly does seem to be widely discussed. With a quick Google Scholar search, I found: blog post from NASA, this book, "Training Apollo astronauts in lunar orbital observations and photography" in this edited volume, and possibly this book. I'm leaning keep, since I suspect sources exist; there appear to be hundreds of papers written about Apollo photography, presumably some of them discuss e.g. Apollo 14 specifically. I don't believe this to be a notable location. The only modern coverage I can turn up for this is use of this place as a waypoint or the fact that a USGS quadrangle map was named for this site. Newspapers.com does not catch any coverage of this either except for an appearance in a listing of places served in a county supervisor's district either. Admittedly, the standard methods do not always do a good job of turning up coverage for older extinct places. However, the lack of any mention in Ed Bearss's gigantic trilogy on the Vicksburg campaign suggests this place was either not known by this name or was not significant at the time, as Bearss' work is very detailed in mentioning the minor place names of the area and the Vicksburg campaign raged right through Hinds County. • No, that's a different cave. It just happens to be a name that Shaivite Hindus are likely to independently come up with when they find a cave that they're surprised they didn't find earlier and/or houses a notable rock formation that can be declared a Shiva Lingam. It could mean Cave of Lord Shiva in his form as the god of things that are hidden (or perhaps, Cave of the hidden Lord Shiva). — Usedtobecool ☎️ 05:23, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Article was brought back recently, and again I feel the arguments of the previous AfD hold true here. Every new source added- with few exceptions- are either unreliable or a very trivial mention in a review of Uprising. Even using sources from the previous iteration of Pit's article, there still isn't nearly enough for a whole article. I recommend to restore the redirect, since nothing has been proven to state that the discussion's consensus has changed. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pinging @Kazama16, who revived the article, for thoughts. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 02:10, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Restore Redirect - This was just Merged by pretty strong consensus at an AFD just three months ago, and really should not have been unilaterally restored without some kind of discussion first, which as far as I can see did not happen. But, regardless of that, the current version does not show any greater coverage in reliable sources that was presented or found in the previous discussion. All of the added sources in the reception section are simply reviews and coverage of Kid Icarus: Uprising as a whole, where the few sentences and quotes that specifically talk about Pit as a character are being cherry picked out to give the illusion of significant coverage. Uprising was a notable game that garnered many reviews, but cobbling together a dozen minor sentences of "reception" on the main character in them do not add together to give Pit his own notability separate from that of the games he appears in. Rorshacma (talk) 02:34, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Redirect Sources that are used are press releases, listicles, or articles about the game not the character. Still the same as the previous AfD. Update. Article still fails notability. Most were just trivia or passing mentions. 🍕Boneless Pizza!🍕 (🔔) 03:05, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep Boneless Pizza! Listicles??? where show me sources that cite "Top 10 best video game characters", Top 10 archers in video games" show me where are those sources? please carefully check the article before choosing your decision. There might be even more sources that are currently not present in the article, so stop being quick for deletion as I suggest. Kazama16 (talk) 09:37, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Perhaps I was exaggerating about listicles, but you're just throwing unreliable sources here except the book one which might be bit useful. Pls do not bludgeon the discussion and make any WP:THEREMUSTBESOURCES argument. 🍕Boneless Pizza!🍕 (🔔) 05:27, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Actually there is a mention of Pit in it on 9# Tetris. Quote= How cool is that? Well, it’s even cooler than you think because it’s not only Link; Samus Aran joins him on the cello, Pit plays the violin Kazama16 (talk) 09:41, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
So you think "How cool is that? Pit plays the violin" is a valuable commentary to add at the article? 🍕Boneless Pizza!🍕 (🔔) 10:03, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
It's about the game he appeared in not reception Kazama16 (talk) 10:19, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I didn't say he wasn't mentioned in it, I said that he was not the topic of the listicle in question. That sentence you quoted is the very definition of trivial coverage that is a very good example of showing what kind poor sources and cherry picked quotes are having to be used to try to make it look like the character has more coverage than he actually does. Rorshacma (talk) 15:16, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
They aren't really bludgeoning, they're just defending their reasons for making the article. Regardless, per above, 3 is only dev info, and that can only go so far given the lackluster Reception. The Fwoosh does not seem to be a reliable source. The book source is entirely plot summary from a quick read. None of these seem to be making an impact on notability, and per prior AfDs, searches for sources have historically turned up very little, making the THEREMUSTBESOURCES argument moot. Thank you, I had drafted my response before seeing the restorer's active discussion Conyo14 (talk) 19:50, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. While I think the article needs clean up and a trim to focus on best sources, from a search I'm left with a sense of sufficient coverage, beyond trivial mentions in a game review, of Pit as a multimedia character not reducible to a Kid Icarus redirect (perhaps only just, but even so). Participants in the discussion may already be aware of this IGN article which covers Pit across several media appearances outside Kid Icarus. In addition to that, I found this Bleeding Cool article reporting on and assessing a Pit figurine. And the first chapter of this academic book from Bloomsbury Publishing includes coverage of the Pit character in the Kid Icarus franchise. Hydrangeans (she/her | talk | edits) 07:36, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
    A figurine/merchandise doesn't help WP:GNG; thus the article is still in a weak state. 🍕Boneless Pizza!🍕 (🔔) 10:02, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The article has not been checked properly; the nominator has only looked over the reception section without checking the further reading section and assumed that it is not notable per the other two previous AFDS. Kazama16 (talk) 10:33, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Lacking evidence that the nominator has not done that, I must say that as someone who has, it would not have caused me to change my mind about nominating it. All of the further reading section is either WP:ROUTINE articles coming about due to Uprising's announcement or an interesting but unreliable student article for a student magazine. - Cukie Gherkin (talk) 15:21, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Forgive me for missing that, most video game character articles lack significant external reading sections, and additionally, those with them typically cite the articles in the Reception. In any case, per Cukie Gherkin above, I see no real significant coverage on Pit as a character in here. One is a review of an action figure unrelated to Pit's character, and the majority of the others are routine Kid Icarus Uprising coverage. The Writer's Block Magazine source looks decent, but I am unfamiliar with their reliability. In any case, one good source out of a swamp of them isn't really enough to justify Pit as an article. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 17:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't really see much commentary in the IGN article. It seems more to be a summary of Pit's appearances, and any commentary that could be taken out of it is cherry picking. The Siliconera article is less about Pit and more about the make of a figurine than anything. The book source seems to be more about the Kid Icarus game itself being compared to the game Athena. Anything relating to Pit is in regards to his character is just plot summary, though correct me if I've missed anything. Has one ever considered Magneton? • Keep There is no sourced information on this model in the main G-Class page, which is already extremely long. It makes a lot sense to leave this so people can read about this variant, without having to scroll through that page to find a brief summary. I'm not sure which WP:N criteria to apply here, whether it's NMUSIC, WP:NEVENTS, or just GNG. However, it doesn't meet any of those. This PROMO was created based on coverage that doesn't seem to have WP:SUSTAINED coverage. Category:14th-century Bavandid rulers[edit]

Nominator's rationale: I don't think we need to diffuse Bavand dynasty by century. Instead I think we should repurpose it to be a nationality category. Mason (talk) 20:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Youth activists[edit]

Nominator's rationale: I think we should just merge these two categories, they're both extremely similar with the defining feature being that the activist is notable for being young. Mason (talk) 20:26, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Nepali language movement activists[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Overlapping categories. Rervse merge also fine by me Mason (talk) 20:21, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Italian expatriates in the Crusader states[edit]

Nominator's rationale: There's no main category, so I think this child category should be repurposed to cover all expatriates, not just those from italy Mason (talk) 18:31, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Urdu critics[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Non-defining intersection between language spoken and occupation. This category should be split into Indian critics‎ and Pakistani critics. Mason (talk) 18:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:People educated at Coláiste an Phiarsaigh[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Unneeded category - Only 2 entries which I've added to the school article, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 15:09, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Oppose: a list on a single article is no reason to reject a category accomplishing the same task in a different area of the site. Plus, there are now twice as many entries as there were at time of proposal. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 20:38, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Oppose: a list on a single article is no reason to reject a category accomplishing the same task in a different area of the site. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 20:36, 10 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Why would we want duplicating information though ?, Why do we need an under-populated category when a list within an article does the same job ?, Also do you have any sort of link that explicitly states duplicating information is fine because if you do I'd happily close this. –Davey2010Talk 00:16, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • I guess this is one of those things I will never understand, How is a duplicate category "complimentary" when it's literally a duplicate??, Why do we need 2 things of the same thing ?, what is achieved or what is the end goal in having 2 of the same thing ?, I don't get it I truly don't.
Nonetheless Wikipedia:Categories, lists, and navigation templates#Overlapping categories, lists and navigation templates are not considered duplicative renders my whole arguement moot so I guess my only option here is to withdraw, Thank you for providing that guideline it's greatly appreciated, Thanks, –Davey2010Talk 10:01, 13 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:History of Rawalpindi District[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory and one article. No other districts in Punjab but Bahawalpur (see further above) have a category like this. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:28, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Military history of Punjab, Pakistan[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 17:25, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Iranian Arab families[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge, redundant category layer with only one subcategory. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:10, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Canadian families by ethnic or national origin[edit]

Nominator's rationale: rename similar to Category:Families by ancestry and sibling categories therein. Marcocapelle (talk) 15:06, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Colonial United States (Mexican)[edit]

Nominator's rationale: merge, it is an odd category name, ignoring the fact that the colonial era in Mexico (hence in these regions) had ended in 1821, and there does not seem to be much reason to keep it separate from the target. Marcocapelle (talk) 13:46, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:American gangsters of Sicilian descent[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Merge per previous precedent Omnis Scientia (talk) 10:43, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Lean to support, while in Italy the Sicilian Mafia is quite distinct, I think that is not so much the case in the United States. Marcocapelle (talk) 10:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Metropolis albums[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Not sure what the best title for this would be so open for other alternatives. This is obviously not albums about Metropolis nor about Metropolis (1927 film), but is related to albums by Janelle Monáe which form some kind of series (and currently has no article and no redirect as far as I can tell). Gonnym (talk) 09:18, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Stryper tribute albums[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Sole entry is non-notable and now a redirect, so there's no point in a separate category. QuietHere (talk | contributions) 08:26, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Scottish child businesspeople[edit]

Nominator's rationale: 3x upmerge for now. This category only has one person in it, which isn't helpful for navigation. Mason (talk) 04:10, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Video games using procedural generation[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Games with randomly-generated maps is nothing special, it's not even that hard to add this into your game. Almost every RTS, turn-based strategy, city-builder, and open-world survival game has had it. And some of haven't even been listed. QuantumFoam66 (talk) 03:26, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Savoyards in Thirteenth Century England[edit]

Nominator's rationale: This category needs to be renamed to match the naming conventions of other categories. I'm not married to the rename but it's the best I could come up with that matches the vibes of the category and the main page Savoyard knights in the service of Edward I Mason (talk) 02:04, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Fanny (band)[edit]

Nominator's rationale: Too little content: only two cats and two articles (and the two cats only have 4 or 6 articles themselves). ―Justin (koavf)TCM 01:12, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Category:Former universities and colleges of Jesuits[edit]

Nominator's rationale: The current name is not only awkward and not parallel to the name of the related category for current Jesuit institutions ("Jesuit universities and colleges") but its meaning is also unclear. ElKevbo (talk) 18:44, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
If someone has a (legitimate) concern that "Former Jesuit" is also ambiguous - does it mean "a university or college that was once a Jesuit institution but is no longer a Jesuit institution" or "a Jesuit university or college that is now closed" ? - then "Formerly Jesuit universities and colleges" would resolve that ambiguity. The category does currently include institutions in both of those situations so this may be important. ElKevbo (talk) 20:00, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Marcocapelle: Can you please say more about "the distinction between current and former Jesuit is also not enormously important." In my mind, it's a very important distinction as it indicates a very important shift in the institution's mission, organization, and support. ElKevbo (talk) 03:43, 12 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
That's an entirely different subject and you're welcome to establish that category if you feel strongly about it but it doesn't seem terribly relevant to the discussion at hand. And I completely disagree that "the category is primarily useful to learn about the history of the Jesuits" as its primary use is to identify colleges and universities who are identified with that particular religious order. It's less about the history of that order and more about the intended function and role of these colleges and universities.
"Every university or college will eventually be closed or taken over" doesn't seem like a very helpful or productive perspective at all. Every religion will eventually fade into disuse or change until it's unrecognizable. The sun will eventually explore destroying all life and structure on the planet. The universe will eventually fade into heat death. None of that is very useful when considering what we should or should not do here and now in this encyclopedia. Category:Carib people[edit]

Nominator's rationale The term "Carib" is ambiguous as it can be used to refer to either the Kalinago (Island Caribs) or the Kalina (Mainland Caribs). Despite both being commonly called "Caribs", the Kalinago and the Kalina are different peoples with different languages and cultures. There isn't a single "Carib" group encompassing both the Kalina and Kalinago. Bohemian Baltimore (talk) 13:55, 11 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Latin peoples[edit]

History indicates that this used to be a problematic article that was then redirected to Italic peoples, then to Romance-speaking world which was relatively recently deleted (2023), and now re-created as a redirect to Latins by a new user. This should be discussed before we let it stay. Joy (talk) 13:19, 4 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

I'd argue that Latin people or Latin peoples can be rather vague. It's been seen used colloquially just to mean "Latin Americans" and also been used in European contexts whether for present day Romance-speaking groups or for historical populations like the Italic Latins of antiquity. Since the article Latins covers broadly all "people-related" uses of this term since antiquity it seems like a good fit for a redirect. Evaporation123 (talk) 01:31, 6 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And that would be fine if this was stable, but in the latest rewrite, we already had a revert [47] by @Liz and a major intervention[48] by @Diannaa. A clearer consensus would be preferable. --Joy (talk) 06:48, 7 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Baak film redirects[edit]

Both of these redirects have no point. Both these redirects (Baakghost and Baak (Telugu film)) along with Baak (Telugu Film) were initially created by SenthilGugan as Articles for the Telugu dubbed version of Aranmanai 4. After seeing no need for another article, when there's already a primary article and an Afd the pages were turned to redirects. But, there is no need these many redirects, as not even the Google recognizes these names. I only included two redirects because, the other one has already been Rfded. @Eureka Lott: As WP:PTM describes, some partial title matches do belong on disambiguation pages. I think title-subtitle is one of the more obvious cases for that. jlwoodwa (talk) 04:02, 18 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Evil Luigi[edit]

as opposed to "evil mario" which was nominated a few days ago, which could have referred to a good handful of characters (ironically not including wario), there is a very concrete "evil luigi", that being mr. l from super paper mario, though he's only mentioned by name in luigi's article. i'd say retarget to super paper mario and mention his name there cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 14:06, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Delete since it can plausibly refer to multiple subjects. On top of Mr. L and Waluigi, I'm sure there's other "evil" variants of Luigi that exist that could be conflated with them. Has one ever considered Magneton? Pokelego999 (talk) 14:23, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
to my knowledge, those are actually the only ones. shadoo (also from super paper mario) could maybe probably count since he takes the shapes of the main cast (funnily enough, he copies mr. l's design instead of luigi's), though i haven't been able to find any other clones or doppelgängers wanting to be the better mario brother cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 14:34, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
should probably clarify that i mean evil luigis, i will accept no gooigi slander in this house cogsan (nag me) (stalk me) 14:37, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep: I believe the expected result for "Evil Luigi" is Waluigi, same as somebody searching "Evil Mario" would expect to be redirected to Wario. Hey man im josh (talk) 16:56, 29 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Oppose deletion with no opinion on keep vs. dabify. There is, I think we all agree, at least one plausible meaning of "Evil Luigi," so something should exist at that title. "Delete since it can plausibly refer to multiple subjects" does not match any of the rationales listed at WP:R#RCD. If there is only one meaning, then it can target that meaning. If there is more than one meaning, then it can be dabified (or we can pick a primary topic). There's no situation where you delete something that has at least one valid meaning. --NYKevin 07:46, 30 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Delete. Evil Luigi is Mr. L at most. Waluigi is not Luigi, and therefore cannot be "Evil Luigi" (as he would need to be Luigi to be evil, which he is not, and is a separate character). We do have a character on Wikipedia that is Luigi, and is "evil", i.e. Mr. L, so this if anything is the only possibility that exists. However, I would not expect this description of Mr. L to be a redirect, as "Mr. L" is a suitable and workable search term. No reason to have Bad Luigi or Devious Luigi. Dougie (disambiguation)[edit]

The set index is not a disambiguation. I can only find Dougie as a dance, and Dougie (given name), but I can't find the 3rd. If you can't find the 3rd one, will this page be deleted or kept? 176.42.17.150 (talk) 16:08, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Restore the separate disambiguation page at Dougie (disambiguation). It's the best solution out of no particularly good solutions. BD2412 T 17:53, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Eureka Lott. If Dougie is the only title needing disambiguation that is not a person or character's name, which seems to be the case, it's silly to have nearly-identical disambiguation and anthroponymy pages that only differ by that one link. Just add a hatnote or see-also to the existing list. Ivanvector (Talk/Edits) 19:20, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep per Ivanvector. * Pppery * it has begun... 19:44, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Keep. Should be treated as an average redirect from incorrect disambiguation. The correct disambiguator in the title "Dougie (given name)" is "given name", and the disambiguator "disambiguation" is incorrect. No need to add an irrelevant see also link or hatnote to the anthro list. Someone who is at "Foo (given name)" doesn't need to be directed to "Foo" that is not name-related (not a "related or comparable" topic).—Alalch E. 22:43, 18 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • We actually need this to exist because there's a broken piece of software, which is used by a lot of people who disambiguate, that thinks links to "Dougie (given name)" need to be disambiguated, so they can at least pipe link this to avoid the software bug. --Joy (talk) 07:40, 19 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Don't delete. In addition to what's already been said, redirects that end in (disambiguation) which target a page performing a disambiguation-like function (rather than a disambiguation page) are also helpful for linking to Wikidata items. To use this redirect as an example, the French and Italian Wikipedias have a disambiguation page for the term Dougie, which are both linked to Dougie (Q13364643): Wikimedia disambiguation page. However, as Dougie (given name) is an article about the name & isn't a dab page, it's linked to the Wikidata item about the name itself (Dougie (Q3037978): male given name). Redirects such as Dougie (disambiguation) are able to be connected to the Wikidata item about the disambiguation page as a sitelink to redirect (as I've just done); and therefore allow readers of the French and Italian Wikipedias to access the enwiki article (that serves a disambiguation-like function) via an interlanguage link. All the best, ‍—‍a smart kitten[meow] 14:10, 27 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Cyclone Fabien (2023)[edit]

Also, another redirect from unnecessary disambiguation that is not suitable for primary redirect. If CSD G7 requires a deletion, then the author request for blanking — but it is declined without an evidences occur. Fabien is only one storm for the naming storms in Southwestern Indian Ocean last 2023. This should be delete to prevent the typo parentheses like "(2021)". @Hurricane Noah, I'm also disagree about the standard practices on each tropical cyclone. Since lasts 4 months that I deleted the disambiguation article "Cyclone Fabien (2023)", Flux55 created the redirect again without a reasonable excuses. Icarus58 (talk) 11:54, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Keep unless I'm missing something else. This is a standard redirect for all topics where there's any chance at all of using the disambiguator. Cyclone Hamoon (2023)[edit]

The previous redirect is unnecessary disambiguation and I wonder how will transposed the main article as "Cyclone Hamoon". I suggest that this redirect should be delete without putting disambiguation as "(2023)" respectively. Icarus58 (talk) 01:52, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Hurricane Noah, there is also a wrong typo like the disambiguation title like the parentheses "(2023)" and I surprised more redirects have standard practices by the other users. But for me, it is better to delete rather than spread more redirects like the only one storm naming in North and Southwest Indian Ocean basins. Icarus58 (talk) 11:50, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Educating[edit]

Unlikely redirect; currently it's used in only one article (N._Ravichandran). Deleting this redirect would help clean up the lead of Education, by removing a distracting dab hatnote. fgnievinski (talk) 01:20, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Wich[edit]

Having created Wich (disambiguation), I doubt that there is a primary topic of the term, and propose to move the disambiguation page over this redirect. BD2412 T 00:02, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Keep: Judging by the relative unnotability compared to the common -wich suffix, the existing page being a redirect to -wich town and keeping the existing hatnote on that page is fine. Just add a note at the top of wich (disambiguation) stating the primary topic. Flemmish Nietzsche (talk) 07:35, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Templates and Modules[edit]

Template:Tentative title[edit]

Template of dubious necessity. The requested moves process, through which any discussions about page titles would be handled, already sticks a banner template announcing that a page move discussion is under way at the top of the article, so any page that has an RM discussion underway would already be tagged for that without needing this. And if you can't be bothered to initiate an RM discussion, then this template has no value on pages at all if there's no explanation provided of what the tagger's issue with the existing page title is -- which was exactly the case on the only page that this template was actually being used on (which I should also note that I found because this template was transcluding non-existent redlinked categories onto the page, which templates aren't allowed to do.)
So there's no need for this, because other templates already cover off the same purpose if the issue is properly addressed through standard processes, and the template has no value at all if the tagger is just drive-by shooting and can't be arsed to follow standard processes. 1996 Abakan Ilyushin Il-76 crash[edit]

1996 Abakan Ilyushin Il-76 crash (talk|edit|history|logs|links|watch) (XfD|restore)

Whilst not a contentious topic, I believe that the the non-admin closer closed the discussion with insufficient evidence and rationale. At first, the closer did not provide a rationale and upon asking for one [50], they stated "The noms contention that this was a "run of the mill event" is not accepted" [51]. Upon inquiring even further pointing out that I had cited multiple policy-based guidelines, they simply stated that they had nothing to else add. Whilst there were no votes supporting a delete, I believe that, either, at the very least, the discussion be relisted to provide a clearer consensus and be closed by a more experienced editor or admin, or the result be overturned as I believe that the closer did not correctly interpret the results. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 10:06, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

  • Endorse There is unanimous consensus to keep. Skyshiftertalk 10:25, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Per WP:CLOSEAFD, Consensus is not based on a tally of votes, but on reasonable, logical, policy-based arguments. The strength of the arguments given depends more than the number of votes cast on either side. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 10:40, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment. I closed this. There were no delete votes in this second AfD nor the first AfD which can be found here Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/RA-78804. Desertarun (talk) 10:38, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
This is slightly misleading. Although there weren't any delete votes in the first AfD, there were merge votes. [1] Aviationwikiflight (talk) 10:44, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
And you ignored the first AfD result and renominated it for deletion again...The first AfD closed less than a month ago. Desertarun (talk) 10:49, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I agree that that was my fault for renominating it as I didn't know that a renomination should normally take place after six months.
At the same time, you closing the first discussion as keep with four in favour (including a sock) vs three favouring a merge is contentious as both sides provided strong arguments. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 11:09, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Overturn This AFD was not properly closed and the rationale for closing is not valid. - UtherSRG (talk) 11:27, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Weak endorse. Firstly, renominating within a month of the previous Keep AfD puts the appellant on weak footing here. I believe them when they say it was an honest mistake, but in cases of rapid renomination of a substantially identical page, I think a closer may look at the views in the previous XfD, and determine consensus based on both (or all, if more than two) AfDs combined. This is the natural and most effective way to discourage the type of tendentious litigation we see in some perennially nominated pages. In our case, this would lead to a clear consensus to keep.
Secondly, while no policy forbids it, I find it in poor taste for the same closer, admin or not, to close two subsequent XfDs for the same page, especially in such rapid succession. I'm not saying Desertarun has any bias here, but the appearance of impartiality, and the opportunity to give another closer a chance to examine consensus, are also important. Looking at the second, appealed AfD by itself, I agree with the appellant that the Keep views are exceptionally weak, and do little to refute the nominator's P&G-based concern. I would advise the non-admin closer to either relist such marginal cases, or to leave them for an admin to close. Owen× 12:51, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Endorse. There was a clear consensus to keep. Everything was done correctly. The closer stated that the nominator's rationale was "not accepted" (by consensus), which is fine. This is not a BADNAC, as the non-admin closer has not demonstrated a potential conflict of interest, or lack of impartiality, the outcome was not a close call or likely to be controversial, the non-admin has a lot of experience editing Wikipedia generally and has had much previous participation in deletion discussions, and the result did not require action by an administrator. Maybe something about this close could have been better but NACs don't have to be absolutely fabulous to stand, discussions don't have to be fabulous for NAC to be applicable when they're entirely one-sided and can't be closed any other way, and DRV is not about technicalities and not about through-expermentally workshopping could-have-been optimal closing statements and sharing thoughts about what ideal closes by which preferred closers would lead to our satisfaction.—Alalch E. 13:09, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I don't understand how the given rationale is fine. Saying that the result depended on one of my arguments not being accepted doesn't exactly make sense. In the discussion, I provided multiple policy based guidelines demonstrating why the article should be deleted. But because one of my arguments which was that the event was a run-of-the-mill was not accepted means that my entire argument is now baseless? Aviationwikiflight (talk) 13:31, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
An AfD is not a formal debate. As consensus, not merely being right is needed to delete, your initiative to delete the article failed through a lack of consensus to do so. Since no one even !voted delete, but multiple people !voted keep, the outcome can not be "no consensus" and can only be "keep". Relisting would have been inappropriate as there was a normal level of participation and the comments were not "lacking arguments based on policy". An argument that the page is not WP:NOT, for example, is not an argument not based in policy in an AfD. An editor can ignore complaints that notability isn't met and say that the page is suitable for inclusion as being within scope, citing NOT, and that is a perfectly policy-based argument to keep. If you cite a guideline that says that events about "common, everyday, ordinary items" may not be notable, and someone says "no, this is not a common, everyday, ordinary item", that's a policy-based argument. Try with a more complete nomination next time that in addition to WP:LASTING also includes WP:INDEPTH and WP:GEOSCOPE, and explain why some sources may be unreliable and why those that are reliable lack in-depth coverage etc., and also explain how WP:GNG isn't met. —Alalch E. 14:08, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Consensus isn't determined based on the tally votes and by counting heads, but by looking at the strength of arguments and cited recorded consensus and on reasonable, logical, policy-based arguments.
I too can also ignore the fact that the article was not WP:NOT and cite guidelines that it fails. That too is a policy-based argument against a keep.
And just saying that the article should be kept because of the number of deaths is not a policy-based argument, nor is saying that an article should be kept because another one has less deaths. Arguing against someone saying that the article is not run-of-the-mill and demonstrating why it is run-of-the-mill is also a policy-based argument. If users do little to refute issues cited regarding policies and guidelines, where does that leave the result? Aviationwikiflight (talk) 14:41, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
You said, I too can also ignore the fact that the article was not WP:NOT and cite guidelines that it fails. That too is a policy-based argument against a keep. That is correct, and indeed, no one here is claiming that your arguments are not based on policy or guidelines. The fact that no one refuted your argument does not, by itself, automatically turn your legitimate view into a supervote. Here at DRV, we often get appeals that essentially boil down to, "Everyone except me was wrong!". The problem with that is that even if true, that still leaves your opinion alone. We do not delete an article based on a single, contested opinion, except in the clear cases spelled out in WP:CSD. Owen× 14:56, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not trying to make my views equal to a supervote but the problem that I have is with the closing rationale since it is implying that the discussion was closed as keep because one of my arguments was not accepted even though there were plenty other of arguments. Aviationwikiflight (talk) 16:04, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
The AfD was closed as a Keep because no one other than you suggested it not be kept. The fact that you're still arguing about it tells me you aren't clear on our basic principle of WP:CONSENSUS. Owen× 16:23, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Endorse per Alalch E. Perfectly fine NAC, entirely obvious consensus. Jclemens (talk) 16:13, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Endorse per Alalch E. No error in the close - also not a bad NAC. The nomination was based on WP:EVENT and Wikipedia:Run-of-the-mill. While WP:EVENT is a guideline, it is not, by itself an exclusion criteria - as a subject can still pass GNG and merit an article. WP:Run-of-the-mill is an essay. In this case, as GNG was not questioned. While passing GNG does not mean an article must be created, the question in an AFD is whether a stand-alone page should exist. Since the other participants all said that the subject was not an ordinary event (a policy-based argument), keep was the only appropriate outcome. --Enos733 (talk) 16:57, 19 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
