Vincent Kompany[edit]

I recently made changes to Vincent Kompany's page and did not provide any reference. I would like if you could re-add my changes and would provide a reference but I am finding it hard on how to as I am new to this whole world of Wikipedia editing. GmanGames16 (talk) 17:36, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@GmanGames16: Which changes do you want to be restored? If it's regarding Bayern, his appointment hasn't been confirmed yet. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:37, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@GmanGames16: As for adding references see Help:Referencing for beginners. Welcome to Wikipedia! Kind regards, Robby.is.on (talk) 17:56, 25 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Captaincy in opening sentence (VVD, Kyle Walker)[edit]

I added the fact Kyle Walker is captain for Man City to his page, and it got reverted. Is it just for the national team that a player is given credit for being a captain? Ronaldo, Messi, Mbappe, Kane, all of them have it in the opening paragraph.

I think a similar thing happened with VVD, I edited his opening to say he's a captain, and it got reverted. (Even though everyone else has it)

Why? Char3290 (talk) 01:54, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

looking at Pepe's page, it appears he has Porto's captaincy shown in the opening statement. I mean this in no aggressive or disrespectful way, but we should atleast try to show consistency between pages, no? The vast majority of pages show captaincy in the opening paragraph. Char3290 (talk) 02:00, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@Char3290: For me, being a team captain isn't notable enough to mention in the opening sentence of the lead, which should establish who the subject is and why they're notable. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:12, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Again, no agression, but want to help me go through every club captains page and remove it from their opening sentence to make this statement consistent? Char3290 (talk) 01:50, 29 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

FA Cup winners[edit]

Harry Maguire made 3 appearances in the Manchester United's Fa Cup, even scoring a crucial goal in the semi final. He is an FA Cup winner as confirmed by the official FA Cup twitter account, Luke Shaw is also an FA Cup winner according to this. You do not need to be in the squad for the final to be considered an FA cup winner. 2A02:6B67:EAF0:1F00:9473:E904:62D8:204D (talk) 14:18, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

@2A02:6B67:EAF0:1F00:9473:E904:62D8:204D: If you can provide a reliable source (not a photo from a Twitter/X account) then have at it. Mattythewhite (talk) 17:07, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Mainoo Edit[edit]

Very new to editing wikipedia, but I know for a fact Kobbie Mainoo's height is 6 ft tall, not 5'9. Can you please help me incorporate this source into the wikipedia edit? https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/5514522/2024/05/24/kobbie-mainoo-manchester-united-interview/. I was trying to cite it correctly but messed up Akthegreat789 (talk) 18:40, 28 May 2024 (UTC)[reply]
